I am writing The Reserve, a book on how training builds the reserve that keeps people strong and independent as they age. I coach hybrid athletes and adults who want the same, in person in Vilnius and online. Alongside that: travel and wildlife photography, solo motorcycle journeys, and notes from my own training.
Tomas Lebedevas studied physics at Vilnius University, earning a bachelor's in computational physics and then a master's in environmental and chemical physics. For over a decade he has worked in medical technology, looking after the information systems that hospitals and laboratories depend on. He is also a keen chess player, rated 2030 in blitz on Chess.com, which places him in the top 2% of players on the site.

Exercise Physiology for Longevity

The Reserve
first draft
Exercise physiology for longevity, written for coaches, physiotherapists and clinicians. Its starting point is that people do not lose function gradually: capacity declines smoothly, but independence goes in steps, on the day capacity falls below what an ordinary task demands. The book follows six reserves (aerobic capacity, strength, power, bone, balance and metabolism), shows where each one's threshold sits, and turns the evidence into training. All 15 chapters are in first draft.
Travel, wildlife and street photography, gathered over some fifteen years on the road. Zebras and hippos in Tanzania, the alleys and desert of Morocco, harbours and markets in Italy, the United States and beyond. A selection of 42 photographs, grouped by place.
Solo motorcycle journeys, filmed along the way. From Vilnius across Central Europe, over the Alps and the Pyrenees, down to Spain and Portugal, and back through Croatia and Hungary. Short clips from the road on Instagram.
Notes from my own training: strength and endurance in the gym, on the road, on the bike and in a kayak. Marathons in Dresden, Ibiza, Vilnius and Kaunas, with a best time of 3:10, and a 72 km training run on Tenerife. I plan a cycle, record the data and share what held up, and why.
I coach hybrid athletes and adults who want to stay strong, fit and independent as they age. We start with a conversation, a few simple tests and a body composition measurement. Then I write a plan that combines strength and endurance and adjust it as you progress, with regular check-ins when we work online.
